How my Family wins the morning
The early morning is so precious. Time is tight and we’re rushing to get the kids dressed, fed, and off to school on time. We’re preparing their physical selves for the day, but what about mental prep? How do we get them in the right mindset to learn, get along with others, and deal with challenges without us present?
The good news is that prepping kids mentally isn’t really different from preparing an adult, it’s just that delivery has to be “easier”. Here’s what we do and have had success maintaining, would love to hear ideas to add.
- 6:30 — wake them up, dressed, etc
- 6:45 — Meditation (specifically TM) with Momma (I’m at the gym still at this point)
- 7:15 — Breakfast Starts: Gratitudes — we go around and say something, some place, and someone we are each are grateful for and why for each
- 7:40 — Drive to School: recite the 4 agreements
- 7:45 — Arrive At School: Remind them (1) I love them, (2) help somebody, (3) learn something and make sure they tell me that in return.
Why These Work
Transcendental Meditation: http://tm.org — short version is that it shrinks the amygdala and grows the pre-frontal Cortex resulting in a decreased stress response and increased intelligence.

The Four Agreements: https://fourminutebooks.com/the-four-agreements-summary/ — to help offset all the BS beliefs that society tries to force us into including FOMO, excess materialism, shallowness, etc.
- Be impeccable with your word.
- Don’t take anything personally.
- Don’t make assumptions.
- Always do your best.
